Christine Felstead's Yoga for RunnerTM Teacher Training Program was originally developed in response to requests from western Canada and has since grown both locally and abroad. The program contents are based on Christine's accumulated experience as a runner, fitness instructor, yoga student and yoga instructor. The popularity of Christine's workshops is based on her understanding of runners both on a physical and psychological level. The subtleties of teaching yoga to runners in a way that creates challenge, physical benefit and motivation are synthesized into this training program.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The training program builds on the basics presented in the dvd: Christine Felstead's Yoga for RunnersT: The Essentials. Additional elements focus on the strengthening and balancing effect of yoga poses, while detailing the fine points of teaching yoga to runners. The core of this yoga practice and training is based on using yoga to enhance physical performance and therapeutically for injury recovery and prevention.

Included in the training modules:

  • The correlations and benefits of yoga for runners
  • Examination of action of running and affects on the related muscles and joints
  • Beneficial yoga poses, muscles and joints affected, proper alignment of each pose, modifications of each pose and the direct anatomical benefit of each pose
  • Hands on adjustments
  • Marketing and promoting your classes locally

The full program is covered over 3 modules, each one including an intensive 2 days of instruction. Between modules, participants are expected to continue with self study in anatomy, personal yoga practice and student teaching. Recommended guidelines for self study will be provided.
